This informational video gives a brief
overview of Southern Tier HealthLink as an organization.
Southern
Tier HealthLink (STHL) is a non-profit Regional Health Information
Organization (RHIO) that manages the Health Information Exchange
(HIE) for our community. Our current project region includes
Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Otsego, and Delaware counties with
approximately 400,000 residents and possible expansion in the
coming years.

For patients who have given their providers consent to access
the HIE, participation with STHL can help improve care quality,
care coordination, patient safety, healthcare outcomes, and
reduce healthcare costs.
Southern Tier HealthLink was
established with leadership and support from United Health Services,
Lourdes Hospital and other stakeholders in 2005 and launched
its Health Information Exchange (HIE) in the first quarter of
2010. STHL continues to add new providers and types of information
on a steady basis. In the near future, the STHL HIE will
connect to the Statewide Health Information Network of New York
(SHIN-NY) to allow healthcare information to be shared throughout
the state.
